How to Use Leverage to Create Amazing Results?

The Greek philosopher Archimedes once stated "Give me a big enough lever and I can move the world". This is a perfect illustration of the power of leverage. In life we have a limited amount of time, energy and money. If you want to maximize your results you need to find the right kind of leverage. Below I will explain two of the most powerful forms of leverage.
The first form of leverage is assistance. This is where you hire someone to perform a task that you would otherwise have to do yourself. By doing so you can concentrate on those tasks where you have an identifiable advantage. Each of us has skills and knowledge that allow us to excel at certain tasks. For example if you have trained as a copywriter then you will be able to create marketing literature better than someone who lacks your sales background.
When you engage in tasks which are away from your core competencies you experience an opportunity cost. Even if you could do that task yourself it will take you away from more profitable and enjoyable uses of your time. A good example of this is cleaning your home. Few people enjoy cleaning their home. Hiring someone to clean your home for you is relatively inexpensive. By hiring a cleaner you are freeing up your time so that you can concentrate on your core competencies.
The second form of leverage is systems. These are set series of tasks which if performed on a consistent basis allow you to achieve a specific goal. Studies have shown that when we do something habitually our brain actually has to use less energy to perform that task. When you put a system in place it is actually easier to do the tasks than to not.
A good example of this is having an "hour of power" each morning. This is a set of rituals that are performed each morning in order to prepare you for the day. When you perform these actions you will start your day with energy and clarity. The exact nature of the ritual will differ from person to person. However a common ritual would be to begin with a glass of water, spend time meditating, engage in some form of exercise and cleanse the body. You should also some time thinking about what it is that you want to achieve that day.
If you follow a ritual like this every morning you will find that it can make a significant difference to the quality of your life. The key is consistency. When you first start to implement your morning ritual it may seem foreign and you will face internal mental resistance. But if you continue to perform it each day soon it will be easier to do it than to avoid it.
If you want to live a successful life and make the most of your opportunities then it is important to look for ways to gain leverage. Using assistance and implementing systems are two of the most effective forms of this kind of leverage.
