Do you feel superior to others?

Were you stubborn and obstinate?

It is insensitive to others?

Is it selfish?

Well, it may be useful to start with a dictionary definition type. Reference The Oxford Dictionary explains that trust is ..

"Shut confidence, a sense of certainty, a sense of self-confidence, courage."

As for the term "self-confidence", says the dictionary ...

"Having confidence in his ability."

I think we all have our own idea of what trust is and how it feels with us, who may or may not agree with all the above.

Why are some people more confident than others?

Ahhh ... that is the question 64 million is actually be relatively easy to answer. It comes down to how a person perceives the world and, in particular, how they are perceived.

So if someone is described as a person of little faith, then it is more likely to keep that feeling untrustworthy. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Thoughts about themselves influence their actions. Their actions will provide information to their perceptions of themselves.

A person who lacks confidence can not try to aim high in life, afraid to fail. In the absence of high goal, get poor results or reinserted into the medium and its belief in the confidence. It can become a vicious circle of poor performance leading to low confidence booster.

4) Do not expect to get that promotion at work

5) homeless

6) A Helping Hand (near fatality)

7) A disease

For many people, after the situation has been tried and history, they will regain their confidence. Go through the experience of the event is disruptive can lead to stronger and more resilient confidence, as they were able to manage it.

There is an expression that highlights the ...

"What kills us has the potential to make us stronger"

Is it possible that a person with little confidence to win the Super confidence?
Of course, however, a better goal would be healthy confidence. You see that overconfidence can be as bad as reliable.

I'm sure we've all met that person who says much, but when it comes to delivery, they are generally not able to meet its hype.

Indeed, overconfidence external person may be someone who has little confidence. Just trying to hide the lack of confidence of a sample of overconfidence. You can recognize as the person who was the strongest of its peer group. They may have been the tyrant who said they could not do anything and yet there is little evidence to support this.

A trustworthy person who really does not need to prove anything to anyone, especially not themselves. They do their best. Your goal is to stretch and are able to accept responsibility for success and failure.

In fact, the absence of a trustworthy person is commentary. It gives more information to let them make a better decision

Another aspect to a healthy person with confidence is that they are themselves. They do not pretend to be something they are not. No need to brag or boast or talk to your life. They are what you see and can not admit that I'm wrong.

How to Build Self Esteem Using the Voice Inside Your Head

All of us could stand to learn a little more about how to build self esteem, and plenty of us are trying to find more information about this topic. Recent accounts show that there are more than 25,000 books and articles on the subject, and a Google Search shows well over 2 million hits for self-esteem searches.
Well, with all of this information available then why is there still such a demand? One possible answer is that everyone is looking in the wrong place. Instead of searching Google for the answers, or reading the latest book on the subject, consider that the answer might be the voice in your own head.
If you have ever called someone a bad name out loud, perhaps you were angry for something they did and called them stupid or an idiot, how to you think it made them feel? Maybe you have been called a name by someone and know firsthand how bad you felt. Well, consider that the voice inside your head can have the same impact on your self-esteem and how you view all areas of your life. The words you speak, both externally and internally, and the things you say have a tremendous impact on yourself and others.
Have you ever called yourself a name? Ever called yourself a dummy over something you did, or didn't do at work? Ever caught a glimpse of yourself in a mirror and told yourself that you were to fat, to old, to gray? Well all of these "comments" have a negative effect on your self-esteem, but you can learn how to build self esteem simply by changing this dialogue.
The comments we make to ourselves, what the voice inside our heads say is being process by our subconscious minds and our mind begins to take action. If we call ourselves a dummy then our subconscious mind takes the necessary steps to ensure that this in fact comes to our reality.   We begin to think and act like a dummy, others will view us as a dummy, and over time all of the characteristics and actions associated with a dummy will come into our lives.
Over time what we say to ourselves becomes a belief. For example, if we constantly repeat to ourselves "I am loved" we will feel this love and it will impact all aspects of our lives. Our relationships will improve and we will be blessed with love in all its many shapes, sizes, and forms. Others will view us as a person that is loving and in turn give to us these same gifts.
Learning how to build self esteem begins by changing the language inside our head. These thoughts are easily within our control, and by taking control and using positive thoughts instead of negative thoughts our self-esteem will grow. The positive messages inside our head will also translate into us using positive language externally as well, the words we speak to others will be more positive. A "snowball" affect will take place and we will begin to experience more positive aspects in all areas of our lives, and our self-esteem will grow and grow.

The Power Of Self Confidence

The Power of Self-Confidence Is there any quality so attractive, so appealing, so admirable as self-confidence? Individuals with this characteristic seem to exude a sort of aura that draws others to them. They are powerful, strong, enthusiastic, decisive but often enjoyable to be around. For every person with impressive self-confidence, there are a number who suffer from a lack of that very quality. Are you one of them?
Mediocrity and poor performance are often due to low self-confidence but is not something you have to live with. Confidence is a learned trait, not something we are born with. It's not like the color of our eyes or the height of our bodies. It is something that can be impacted and developed over a fairly short period of time to being well above average, yet often people shy away from the chance as they consider themselves not worthy of a better life. You own psyche can be influenced beneficially by you, creating a stronger sense of self-worth and a higher overall quality of life. Things can only annoy you, upset you, or affect you in any way, if you give it permission to.
Self-confidence gives you the ability to carry out your daily tasks with energy and certainty. So many people are just wading through life with a feeling of hesitancy or shyness; the self-confident person seems to glide on the surface. With a few small achievements under your belt, they soon multiply and create a new confidence from deep within you. You blossom and open yourself up to new experiences and enjoyable activities like opening a cellar door, bringing light to the gloom and mire of the depths. You actually create your own "luck" by being the kind of person who craves adventure, calculated risk, and the promise of great rewards. You don't gamble with your new found skills, you never risk anything unnecessary, but you now feel happier to take counsel and make decisions.
Fake it until you make it. Like many behaviors, projecting self-confidence is something that grows into a pattern over time. Even if you start out feeling uncertain and hesitant, simply give the impression that you really are pumped full of confidence. For the time being you will fool others into thinking that you are as assertive and ambitious as you seem, and in time you will "trick" yourself into believing it, too. But beware the arrogance this can sometimes encourage. Use the power of affirmations and the Universal Laws to your advantage.
You may also want to start by visualising yourself as a more self-confident individual. Imagine the way you will walk, talk and think when you have raised your self-confidence to a high level. Focus on that picture and with time it will become a reality!
Self-confidence is a strange thing. The more you feel it, the more it thrives and grows. A seedling of confidence will blossom over time into a healthy plant! So the key is to start off with at least some small task that you can accomplish and feel good about. Plan a schedule of activities where you challenge yourself on an increasing level of difficulty but at your own pace. Set a concrete goal for yourself that you know you will be able to obtain. It doesn't matter how seemingly insignificant it is--the point is simply to suffuse yourself with that feeling of achievement, so that you can experience it and start to grow it into something larger and more all-encompassing. Then do the same but dream a little bigger this time.
Self Confidence Tips1) How to Feel Good When You Need to
Scientists have stated that self confidence and feeling good has a major 'hormonal' element, you can change the way you feel by re-living good times. If you can remember a time you felt really self confident, then excellent - use that! If not, then use a time you felt contented or happy. Taking deliberate control of your thoughts and emotions will have a huge impact on your self confidence and other areas of your life.
2) Beating Self Consciousness, Confidence Enemy No.1
Despite the fact that self awareness is useful for learning about the impact you have on others, too much self consciousness is the No.1 enemy of self confidence. The trick is keeping your attention off yourself when you need to. Here's how...
a) When you feel self-conscious, (you can usually tell because you start to feel anxious), choose something outside of yourself to focus on and study it in detail. For example: examine a door, look at the different textures and shades of colour, wonder about who made it and how and so on. The important thing is that you're learning how to keep your attention off yourself.
It is a good idea to practice this technique in private first. Just sit quietly, practising focusing firstly on your own thoughts and then deliberately focusing outwards onto a picture or piece of furniture.
b) Social self confidence can be difficult to find sometimes because it is unclear what you are 'supposed to do'. In this event, concentrate on what your purpose in the situation is. Whether you're there to:

  • - find out if you like the other people present
  • - make others feel comfortable
  • - find out some information
  • - make business contacts
  • - and so on...

  • It's much more difficult to feel self-conscious if your mind is occupied with a task. An excellent task is listening and trying not to talk over or talk back to the person with whom you are talking. Everyone likes to talk about themselves, and a simple tactic is to use the acronym FORM. Ask them about Family, Occupation, Recreation and finally Monetary Goals (retirement plans, their children's university plans or ask for advice on their investment strategy!).
People are often most comfortable with others when working towards a common goal. The common goal of socializing could be making friends, the exchange of mutually beneficial information; expanding your knowledge of different types of people... it could be whatever you want it to be! The key is to have a strategic goal and a tactical objective along with landmarks along the way to identify your progress.
    3) Watch Out for Undue Criticism - Especially Your Own!
Have you noticed that people will speak to themselves in a way they would never speak to others? You know the sort of thing - you break a glass and it's "You stupid idiot. You can't do anything right can you?" This type of criticism leaves the receiver feeling upset or depressed is rarely useful and sticks in the memory because it was said by someone close to you... you!
Challenging your own assumptions about yourself and other people can really help build self confidence. Here's a few to get you started: Those confident-looking people have bad moments too - you just don't get to hear about them!
If you feel as if you lack confidence, it doesn't mean other people can tell. They're often too caught up with their 'own stuff' to notice!
If you catch yourself saying things to yourself like "I'm no good at anything" then rest assured, you're no good at stating the truth about that. Everyone can compose a sentence, get successfully to the store, eat without choking and do a million other things. Emotion can make things seem hopeless when they rarely are.
Don't let yourself make sweeping statements about yourself - in the long run it is this sort of thing that can really damage your self image. If this happens, say to yourself calmly and gently, "Hold on a minute, that's not true". If you can come up with some evidence that disproves the sweeping statement, then even better. It may take a bit of effort at first, but the impact on your self confidence levels is huge.
Building self esteem is not just about thinking good of yourself, it's about not thinking bad without reason! Just because you have felt bad about yourself in the past doesn't mean you're always going to feel that way. I have seen hundreds of people surprise themselves once they have learned how to build self confidence in a way that it stays built!
The important thing is to get away from asking yourself disempowering questions like; "Why did that happen?", or "Why do I feel this way?", "Why does this always happen to me?" Replace those questions by using 'moving towards' questions like; "How would I like to feel?", "In what situations do I feel confident?", "What lessons can I learn from this?, "What is good about this situation?", "What have I achieved by doing this?" or, "What do I need to learn in order to have better self confidence in this situation?"
Persevere and don't expect everything at once. Really learn how to develop your self confidence by following the tips from this site and the free Self Confidence Course and notice the small differences as they happen. Building good self confidence is a wonderful thing, and it's much easier than you'd imagine.

Even when not experiencing anxiety attack, the person can become more and more nervous and worried and try to be prepared physically and mentally to the next attack. This contributes to more anxiety and feeds anxiety attacks - into full blown panic disorder.

    How to Improve Your Confidence

    www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=1493451279247446272#editor/target=post;postID=5515913536853050071

The beliefs we hold, about who we are, shape the way we express ourselves. This is a profound truth. If you believe you are a confident person, you will be confident; similarly, if you believe you are shy and retiring, then you will behave that way. Self confidence is fundamentally derived from belief. So if you want to become more confident, then one way to do it is to work on your beliefs. Quite simply, when you change your self image - your view of your self - you will also change your behaviour. You might call this an inside out approach.
There is another way to go about becoming more confident and that might be labelled the outside in approach, a procedure that is sometimes called the 'fake it til you make it' method. Working from the outside means working on your behaviour, rather than your beliefs. Both methods can work.
Let's talk about the outside-in approach first. Do you think that you could act confident? I know you might think you are not a very good actor (by the way, that's a belief) but, do you think you could try to just act a bit more confident? When you think about this for a while, you will realise that you could. Of course, you would not see that behaviour as your own - as a part of you - it is just an act. But you could do it, if pressed - right?
Now, other people around you will not know what is going on inside you. They will largely be unaware of any internal conflict between who you think you are and this apparently other person you are now acting like. But, if you simply act confident, then you will have altered a stimulus in your environment. You will begin to produce effects that you otherwise would not have produced - the result of taking a more a confident approach to situations and that's when something important happens.
When you begin to see the fruit of acting in a more confident way, you will be receiving positive feedback. You will begin to reap the benefits of the behaviour, even though at this stage you will still not see it as yours; you will still feel that it is just an act, but you will have moved on a step. You then need to persist with the new behaviour and, do you know something? It starts to get a bit easier.
Eventually, if you keep at it, you will come to realise that your previous, retiring nature was no more you than this new behaviour you are trying on for size and then you will realise that you do have a choice. You can decide to keep the new behaviour with the benefits it brings or you can go back to your old behaviour. It is entirely up to you. But using this approach will get you to realise that being confident is no more difficult than trying on a new coat. Actually, it is simply a new habit, but that's what a behavioural habit is: a garment worn by the personality.
So, now let's talk a bit about the inside out approach. This is where you work on your belief rather than your behaviour. It works because much of our behaviour flows from our self image. Quite simply, if you can convince yourself that you are a confident person, then you will become more confident. You don't need to work on your behaviour when using this approach. It is a naturally product of changing your self image.
So how can you go about changing your beliefs about yourself? There are a number of ways including both hypnosis and positive affirmations and they can both work very well. With hypnosis, we enter a quiet, meditative state where we can gently slip helpful positive suggestions past our conscious critical self. Sounds easy and in fact, it is easy. Just remember if you purchase any hypnosis audios that they have not been prepared for the conscious mind. In fact, you might find them a bit boring. That's all a part of the process i.e. put the conscious mind to sleep whilst we talk directly to the subconscious.
An alternative approach is by using affirmations. Now I am personally a huge fan of this method for changing your self-image. It is remarkably easy to do and yet it is deceptively powerful. Affirmations take hardly any time at all and you don't need to believe in them to make them work for you. You just need to choose the right affirmations and say them to yourself regularly.
If you choose the right affirmations and repeat the procedure often enough, your subconscious mind will eventually accept those affirmations, your self image will change and the behaviour you want will flow as a natural consequence. As I mentioned above, all of these methods work.
So in summary, you can become more confident even if your think otherwise (that would be a belief again) because you can change your beliefs. You can work on the outside (behaviour) if you like the approach better. Both methods work. Remember that inside of that shy, retiring person that you may presently think you are, there is another much more confident version of yourself trying to get out.

Practical Tips To Help With Your Child's Learning Disability

    www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=1493451279247446272#editor/target=post;postID=5274712701668192281

The first thing to understand and embed in your system while dealing with your kids' learning disability is that you have to focus on their strengths and not on their weaknesses. They might not be able to spell as well as others, or may not know how to add up, but they may paint beautifully or may make interesting objects out of stuff lying around the house. Don't think that your kid is dumb, they are just special. Respect the difference and work to give these kids a normal life just like other kids of their age.
Here are some practical tips to help you deal with the child's learning disability:
    1. Be your own expert and take charge of your kid's education: This will be that time when people from all over come up with advice and a host of suggestions. They might be well wishers. But as a parent you know better what to do. Defend your child's right to a proper education. Of course special schools can always be considered. But if the disability is such that a few months tutoring at home can bring them at par with the normal children, that's the way it should be. Try and communicate with the school of the child and talk to them about the following points:
    • Clarify your goals well to the school authorities. Offer few solutions to the faculty to help your child perform better.
    • Be a patient listener. Be ready to listen what school authorities have to say.
    • Stay optimistic, calm and don't give up easily.
    2. Understand how your child learns best: After you have figured out how your child learns best try and use them in the teaching methods. Your kid might find the audio visual medium more engaging. Get ABC learning videos or get apps on your smartphones that will help your kid write, read and draw. Sometimes the speaking skills of children are affected. That too can be corrected by these. There are hosts of material in the audio visual segment that can help with your kid's phonics understanding and interpretation. If your child is a kinesthetic learner, then there is nothing better than the field trips, model building, role playing and memory games.
    3. Focus on the larger picture, think of success in life rather than success in school: Getting good grades in school is important but how important is it from a life perspective. Doing bad in school is acceptable, but reprimanding the child harshly, will probably push their success over two to three years back. So think not just academics, but that sense of self worth, the self confidence and the guts to live in the real world. Make your kid tough. Teach them to stand up for themselves and teach them to take wins and losses in the stride.
    4. Encourage a healthy lifestyle: A healthy mind dwells in a healthy body. Diet, exercise, work and play, all need to be a part of the routine of your kids' daily activities.
    • Exercise: Regular exercise not only keeps the body fit but also the mind. It helps in improving the mood, energy and clarity of the mind. Encourage the child to go outside and play.
    • Diet: A diet that is rich in nutrients is sure to support the development and growth of the child. A diet that consists of whole grains, lean proteins, vegetables and fruits help in boosting the mental focus.
    • Sleep: In case a child is not well rested their learning capabilities are badly affected. A sound sleep helps the child concentrate better.
Finally take care of yourself too. Your kid will need you for a long time to come, so be there for her. Take your health seriously; practice what you preach to her. And don't give up. A learning disability is just like any other thing, it's not invincible or insurmountable.

Five Ways to Overcome Fear This Year

Why is the truth important? Being well-postured in the truth gives a person freedom to move about in this world without fear. The headlines from the world will scream at all of us with fear. Fear of economic collapse, environmental catastrophe, and every other kind of fear imaginable. But God's Word has a different message for us to contemplate and remember. "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love". 1 John 4:18 (NIV).
    1. Overcome fear by remembering God loves you!
The truth is God loves us. Yes, it is true that there will be bad things happening in this world. But the truth of God's Word says that we need to be looking at the love not at the fear. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life," John 3:16 NIV. The enemy despises us when we remember that this is not all there is to life. The enemy hates it when we remember that we have a heavenly home, a heavenly future, and a heavenly Father who loves us. This is the power of the truth and it can keep a person from focusing on the fear that the enemy wants to imbed in our minds.
    2. Overcome fear by remembering the power of truth!
This truth can keep people from falling into despair. Truth is powerful and it often stands in the face of what is happening right before our very eyes. One example of this is the crucifixion of Christ. Jesus was put to death upon a cross. But the truth remained. The truth of his resurrection. The enemy wanted everyone to fear the loss of the Savior, and it seemed that everything went his way. However, in the end the truth became evident. Jesus lives and he does not want us to live by fear, rather we should remember the truth of God's Word and stand firm with the belt of truth buckled about our waists.
    3. Overcome fear by making positive choices!
Choose truth, choose trust, and choose love. Don't choose to allow you mind to entertain all the fearful thoughts and ideas. They are likely the first things that come to your mind. In a strange way, because they are so familiar, they are comforting. Resist the old and work at choosing truth, trust, and love to conquer the fear.
    4. Overcome fear by recognizing the opposition!
Remember the opposition that we are all up against; the enemy. God is light and the truth. The enemy is darkness and the father of lies. Make a choice. Take a stand. Don't entertain the enemy and his fears; instead call attention to the lies, exposing them.
    5. Overcome fear by choosing a direction; choose the letter for your life.
There are two letters written for our lives. This one is from God; For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11, (NIV). This is what God has planned for your life. God's promises stand firm. Follow His way and His will for your life and you can claim His promises. You can assume that the enemy wants to stop this plan; as a matter of fact it might be helpful to just rephrase this verse as if the enemy were to send you a letter of what he desires for your life; For I know the plans I have for you, plans to destroy you, plans to crush your hope. My plans will destroy your future and I will fight to keep you from God's kingdom. Make a choice.
I want to follow God's plan for my life. I want to embrace the letter God has written to me. The first part of that is recognizing that God has a plan and then asking him through prayer to reveal that plan to me; then trusting him on a daily basis to complete that in me. There will be obstacles and joys along this journey, but we are not alone. So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Hebrews 13:6 (NIV).
    Together on the journey,
    Christine

Four Ways to Improve Your Self Esteem

Self esteem describes how we feel about ourselves .Our self esteem or sense of self worth is normally based on our perception of our abilities and how we believe other people accept and value us as individuals. Self esteem affects our confidence and how we behave and function in life. It is our internal belief system that stems from our life experience and relationships and how we have interpreted them. We automatically find ourselves accepting those beliefs and they feel like 'reality' to us. We can improve our sense of self esteem by changing those beliefs, and in doing so will increase our confidence, and our enjoyment in living.
Here are some proven ways to increase your self esteem:
    1. Accept Who You Are, Warts and All
Learn to accept and be comfortable with who you are. Become content in your own skin. We are so often far more critical of ourselves than we are of others. Our self imposed standards can be self sabotaging. You are not perfect, and no matter how hard you try, you will never become perfect. You are unique. You have a unique combination of personality, life background and experiences, strengths and weaknesses. One size does not fit all. Stop comparing yourself with others, and trying to live up to the expectations of what other people think you should be like. This is a self defeating response and will only lead to discouragement and negative self image rather than self acceptance.
    2. Give Yourself Permission to Make Mistakes
To make mistakes is a natural part of learning and self improvement. Everyone makes mistakes; it is a normal part of life. We all go through negative and embarrassing experiences. Success and personal development comes, not through going through experiences, but learning from them and becoming experienced. Your attitude to mistakes and failures has far more power for personal growth than the experiences themselves. Accept that making mistakes will always be part of your life, learn from them. Failure is sometimes unavoidable, however it is not a reflection of who you are as a person, but merely a consequence of a choice or and action that was made. Do not give it unnecessary negative power in your life and future.
    3. Remember You Always Have A Choice As To How You Will Respond Or React.
No matter what the situation or circumstance you always have a choice as to how you will respond to it.
    Eleanor Roosevelt once said,
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
This is so true. We may only have a few seconds to choose how we will react to a negative situation or comment, but we still have the choice to embrace, or reject its potential power over us. No one can have power over you unless you give them permission.
    4. Look At Your Fears From A Different Perspective.
You are not alone in feeling fear. We all have the ability to scare ourselves into inaction. Learn to look at your fear from another perspective. Our body is unable to tell the difference between a real event and an imaginary event, and so we experience intense feelings of fear and self protection. Sometimes this fear originates from what we imagine may happen. If this is the case, our fear is not based on a real event. Whenever we step outside of our comfort zone we feel fear, this is because our fear is not necessarily based on fact, but unfamiliarity. Stepping out of our comfort zone, however, is an important part of our personal development and growth, and the fear we experience is not necessarily an indication of impending personal danger. Visualize what you would like the successful result of an action to look like, rather than focus on the worst case scenario that your imagination would have you believe might happen. Remember you have handled everything that has happened to you in your life so far, and have survived, or you would not be reading this!
Which one of behaviour patterns describes you the most? Start with that one. Set yourself a goal to choose to respond differently. Watch your self esteem start to grow and positively change your life.

    Self-Improvement and Success Go Together

How do you know if someone is willing and ready to work on self-improvement?
Obviously, you can't actually answer this question directly for everyone, because each individual is different and each will approach self-improvement differently. However, self-improvement is definitely something that every person can work on. How do you do this?
Each of us has individual goals, dreams and ambitions. However, we just don't know how exactly to go about it. In fact, if you're like just about anyone, you might even have thought about this and wondered what exactly you can do. However, you still probably don't know just how to make a plan and take the actions you need to in order to achieve your goals.
Maybe you're someone who just has a very indistinct idea as to how you can improve yourself. Maybe you think you just need a better job, better opportunities, or a loving relationship. Whatever it is, you may think that if you attained your desire, you'd be happy.
If this is you, then it's obvious that what you are currently focusing on at least to some extent is external rather than internal, as it should be. In short, you think external factors rather than your own thoughts and actions are what make the biggest difference. However, this is not true.
Let's say that one of your biggest goals in life has been to "make more money". Maybe you think that if you're rich, you can relax, do whatever you want to, and "then" focus on self-improvement. However, this doesn't do anything to actually help you establish real goals and think about how you can actually achieve what you want in life by taking specific, concrete actions. In short, what you really need is a plan.
First, think about what you really want from life. Don't focus on broad-based "goals" such as a vaguely fuzzy idea that you want "more money," without truly defining what you really want in clear and concrete terms. And don't simply drift along day-to-day, just getting by, with no real defined path.
Now, if you're happy with your life just as it is, of course you shouldn't change it. Maybe you're happy earning "just enough" and getting by, with a relatively comfortable life and a relatively secure job. But for most, this isn't enough and they need something with more passion and more meaning. If this is you, self-improvement should be your goal.
It might surprise you to know that in fact, no matter what you do, you are constantly changing. We each face circumstances that make us grow, develop and learn new skills, even if we don't consciously decide to do so. Up until a certain age, most of us learn through some kind of formal education, at least through the end of high school. After formal education is over, we still continue to learn through informal "educational" experiences that occur for the rest of our lives. Everyone has to learn and grow in order to deal with ever-changing challenges we all must face as we go through life.
In years past, this type of ever-changing "education" happened at a relatively slow pace, and this meant that we could incorporate changes as we needed to and as we became ready for them. Now, however, modern life moves very, very fast and we often aren't ready to deal with the pace at which things come to us. We're overwhelmed, even though the changes we experience are beneficial as well as stressful. For example, we have more opportunities, but also more stress and change in today's modern life compared to previous years.
One thing that is much more apparent today than ever before is the presence of competition. Technology has meant that few jobs exist anymore that are simply skilled labor types. Jobs also usually do not last for someone's entire lifetime, as jobs in the past did. Very often, people have to change jobs once or more during their lifetimes, instead of staying in one career during their whole working lives as past generations did.
Because of this, today's working adults need to be able to stay competitive by regularly acquiring new skills and new knowledge, so that they stand out from the crowd. As one of those adults, if you want this to happen, you need to continually focus on self-improvement. If you do so, you'll be more likely to keep your job, acquire promotions within your given field, and/or be able to change jobs or even fields of expertise if necessary to stay employable.
If you commit to self-improvement and personal growth, you will go a long way toward determining your own future success.

    Steps For Self Improvement

    By David Wolf

How do you make improvements in your personality if you do not know what is lacking in the first place? Most of the time, people tend to overlook what is really important in order to become a better person. These are overshadowed by career and financial status. Hence, it is crucial to examine your inner self and reflect on your mistakes in the past to see what is hindering you to succeed. Here is a summary of what you must know to achieve your goals of enhancing your character.

    Take Off for a Week:

Spending a whole week in a retreat house or resort is good for you, not only for your physical body but for your emotional well-being as well. Just choose a place that is quiet and peaceful so you can relax and contemplate on the recent events of your life. You can also take time in thinking about your successes and failures. Self improvement is best done when you are alone.

    Write down your emotions:
Writing one's thoughts, feelings, emotions, problems, aspirations, hopes and dreams in a journal is not only a great way to collect one's thoughts, but also psychologically therapeutic. Though most individuals may not have the time to maintain a journal and record their day-to-day lives, it is highly recommended as a means for self-improvement. Maintaining a journal has yet another advantage; an individual can always look back and read earlier entries from their journals to understand aspects of their past and take better decisions for the future.

Make a Detailed Plan and Make it Come True:
You will learn that regular reflections on your own life help a lot in becoming a much better you. Create an outline of what you want to improve. For example, list down your attitude or traits that must be changed. Do you have the tendency to be extremely sad sometimes? You may want to create a plan on how to combat your sadness like going to the beach or buying something for yourself. There are many ideas that you can gather while writing.

Self-improvement brings with a host of benefits, ranging from a positive attitude towards life to higher levels of self-esteem and confidence. Contrary to popular belief, self-improvement is not restricted to individuals who are facing issues in their personal or professional lives; it is simply a way to prosperity and a better lifestyle.

Overcome Your Anxiety with Effective Public Speaking Tips

    By Zoe Smith

How are you when speaking in front of an audience? Are you comfortable and articulate-or do you find yourself stumbling all over yourself when you open your mouth in front of people? I have many friends who have had almost crippling public speaking anxiety. The good news is it can be overcome. Yes, you do not have to spend sleepless nights anymore worrying about each time you need to face people. Here are great public speaking tips you can use to help you in the future.

    1. More often than not, we will have ample time to prepare before giving a speech. Gather every bit of material you can on the topic needed and study like crazy. You don't need to incorporate every trivia you got, but you must make sure that you know as much as you can about what you are speaking about. When you are confident on your expertise or knowledge of something, it will significantly ease the anxiety you are feeling.

When you are confident in what you know, you will be a lot less anxious. Keep in mind that being prepared is only one part of it. Even if you have all these great info in front of you, don't read it word for word. Speak from your heart. This is what will attract people to listen to what you are saying and make you an effective public speaker.

    2. If you are giving a power point presentation, do not give a boring bullet point presentation. Make it interesting. Incorporate compelling visuals, images, videos or sound bites. You will lose people's attention fast if you use slides and just read the bullet points. A short and concise presentation with suitable illustrations is the best.

    3. Now, some people will still feel the cold claws of public speaking anxiety in the pit of their stomachs even if they have prepared and a fantastic presentation in waiting to be shown. The scariest time is 1 minute before you are to speak so before the fear even hits you, take deep and relaxing breaths. Replay your speech in your mind and envision your audience responding well to it.

    4. It's always good to find at least one friendly face in the audience. If you don't have anybody with you-then look for someone who seems genuinely interested in what you are saying and direct your talk to him or her when the rest of the crowd is less than engaged. Even if one person was helped by what you have said, it has all been worth it.

    5. If you want a successful talk, then engage your audience. Make your stories relatable or ask questions intermittently. Allow them to participate and make it seem like you are all friends simply having a good time. This not only dispels your own nervousness but the more positive the experience you leave your audience, the better they will remember what you have said.

Every single person has something that somebody else needs to hear-don't let a few shaking knees and sweaty palms get in the way of this wonderful opportunity to help somebody's life be better. Employ these super useful public speaking tips and be the person we all know you can be today.

Do You Want To Know Why Your Face Goes Red?

When you talk to someone does your face always go red? You will probably be suffering from blushing and you may also be shy and get embarrassed easily. But you are obviously concerned and are asking yourself why does my face go red?
When your face turns red then you are blushing, so if we know what mechanisms give rise to blushing then we can identify ways of reversing the process of blushing. Blushing tends to be located in specific areas of the body and in particularly the cheeks, ears and forehead. Also we go red round the neck and upper chest. Blushing is also associated with other symptoms such as a pounding heart, sinking feeling in the stomach, sweating and generally feeling panicky.
Blushing is an emotional reaction that is triggered when it involves interacting with other people. The result of this is for the temperature of the body to rise. When our face reddens its associated with the cooling of our body so it can maintain a constant temperature. So to explain blushing and the question, "why does my face go red?" we need to explain the physiological reaction associated with emotions and how our body is controlled.
Bodily changes associated with emotion are controlled by our nervous system. It's composed of a number of interconnecting parts. At the base of the brain is a small area of nervous tissue called the hypothalamus which is connected to the pituitary gland within our bodies. This has a number of crucial functions related to blushing. It keeps our body temperature normal as it's sensitive to blood temperatures above or below normal. The hypothalamus contains a control mechanism that detects changes like our body temperature which then operates to correct the imbalance.
It acts as a 'go between' acting upon signals sent from the brain relaying signals to the pituitary gland which then secrete appropriate hormones. One hormone under conditions of stress acts on the adrenalin gland releasing that chemical causing nervous perspiration and the heart beats faster. We also have a system of nerves that run down either side of our spinal cord which are controlled by the hypothalamus. These peripheral nerves consist of two divisions with a pair of nerves linking to various organs within the body. The mass of nerves from the middle of the spinal cord which is referred to as the sympathetic division. Impulses through these nerve fibres get transmitted by the secretion of a chemical called adrenaline. The chemicals they secrete usually have opposite reactions upon the body, the sympathetic division has a similar effect to the adrenal gland under conditions of stress.
So the sympathetic system speeds up our heart rate, increasing the dilation of the pupils in the eyes and the parasympathetic system slows it down and decreases the dilation.
Why does my face go red when I'm embarrassed?
When we experience an intense emotion like embarrassment we are aware of the bodily changes from the activation of the sympathetic nerves, our nervous system is preparing our bodies for action. When animals are frightened you'll notice the hair on their backs and tail stand on end. This is similarly activated by sympathetic nerves and the 'goosebumps' we experience is the comparable reaction in human beings.
These emotions are reflexes by our bodies to an emergency situation. Are bodies are being prepared for defense by being filled with energy. However, because blushing as associated with a social context a 'fight or flight' is somewhat inappropriate. We are forced by social constraints to stay in that embarrassing situation thus not allowing the emotion to dissipate. It is only when the emotion subsides that the parasympathetic system takes over by conserving our energy and returning to our normal state.
Activation and maintenance of sympathetic nervous system activity is therefore the reason to the question, Why does my face go red?
